Why SMITH Bike Helmets?

Not all bike helmets are created equal. Whether you ride road, gravel, or mountain, our helmets feature the latest safety techs from MIPS® and Koroyd® to reduce impact forces in the event of a crash. Full-face mtb, aero, road or commuter, we have 'em.

How long do bike helmets last?

Bike helmets should be replaced every 3 to 5 years, depending on use and exposure to elements like sun and sweat. If your helmet has been in a crash or shows visible damage, replace it immediately to ensure proper protection.

How should a bike helmet fit?

A bicycle helmet should fit snugly but comfortably on your head without shifting. It should sit level, covering your forehead with about two fingers' width above your eyebrows. The straps should form a "V" around your ears and fasten securely under your chin.

How to wear a bike helmet

Place the helmet level on your head, ensuring it covers your forehead. Adjust the straps to create a snug fit without being too tight, and buckle the chin strap securely. A properly worn helmet should stay in place if you shake your head back and forth without tilting forward or backward.

How to measure bike helmet size

To find your best bike helmet size, wrap a flexible tape measure around the largest part of your head, about one inch above your eyebrows. If you don’t have a tape measure, use a string and measure it against a ruler. Compare your measurement to our size chart to find the right fit. If you're between sizes, visit a Smith retailer to try on different options. Once you've chosen your helmet, use the adjustment dial for a snug, secure fit, and fine-tune the chin strap for comfort and stability. Learn more about measuring yourself for a new bike helmet.
